A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS: PLANNING APPROVED FOR LANDMARK JOSEPH’S WELL STUDENT TOWER

We are delighted to announce that Pullans has secured full planning approval for a major new student living development at Joseph’s Well in Leeds city centre and has appointed McLaren Construction Yorkshire and North East as main contractor. The 14-storey building, known as The Tower, will provide 256 high-quality student bedrooms in a mix of studios and cluster apartments, alongside thoughtfully designed communal and amenity spaces that support wellbeing, connection and everyday student life. This project is the single largest investment in Pullans’ 140-year history and represents the most significant evolution of the Joseph’s Well estate in more than 45 years. JOSEPH’S WELL WELCOMES THREE NEW HEALTHCARE AND TRAINING SPECIALISTS

We’re pleased to welcome three new organisations to Joseph’s Well: Mentor Merlin Limited, OxyHealthCare Limited and Rehabwell 360 Physiotherapy & Healthcare Limited. Together, they have taken 2,318 sq ft of workspace in the building, further strengthening the growing cluster of healthcare, wellbeing and clinical training services based here. Mentor Merlin Mentor Merlin has moved into a 940 sq ft suite to create a dedicated training centre for students preparing for their Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). With existing OSCE test suites already at Joseph’s Well, their new space allows both training and assessment to take place in one location – offering students a streamlined and supportive experience. “Being located within the same building as the OSCE testing suites makes a real difference for our students. HISTORIC COOKRIDGE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPED INTO VIBRANT NEW LEEDS COMMUNITY

A landmark redevelopment in North East Leeds has reached completion, transforming the former Cookridge Hospital into a thriving residential community. Led by Chartford Homes in partnership with Pullans, the 19.5-acre site has undergone a multi-phase regeneration to bring new housing, community services and life back to a historically significant location just six miles from the city centre. On Thursday 27th March 2025, Pullans sponsored and hosted Insider Media’s Yorkshire’s 50 Most Exciting Companies as part of the 140 years in Leeds celebrations. We were delighted to welcome 50 incredible businesses recognised in this year’s list to our landmark building, Joseph’s Well in Leeds. It was especially fitting, given its history – originally built by Sir John Barran, a pioneer in ready-to-wear clothing after discovering a new innovative way to cut cloth in 1858. The event was a true celebration of entrepreneurship in all its forms – featuring everything from vertical cotton farming and AI-driven manufacturing efficiency to fish and chips afternoon tea in Whitby! The diversity and innovation on display was truly inspiring. At Pullans, our 140-year journey has been guided by a strong family ethos and a deep commitment to supporting local businesses.
